Vice Minister Fu Ziying Investigates the Quake-hit Areas in Sichuan Province

From June 16 to 17, Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying visited Pengzhou, Dujiangyan and other places in Sichuan Province to investigate on market supplies and reconstruction issues in the quake-hit areas. He also announced the launch of MOFCOM Guidance and Coordination Group for the Restoration of Commercial Outlets and Market Supplies in theQuake-hit areas. On June 16, the group inspected the temporary commercial outlets including shop-on-wheel and temporary stores in Tongji Town and Xiaoyu Town in Pengzhou.

On June 17, after inspected Chengdu Economic and Technological Development Zone, Fu Ziying held a special symposium with representatives from the provincial and some of the municipality commercial departments, business enterprises and foreign-invested enterprises. Fu Ziying said that the two important tasks at present are to continue to ensure the lives of the victims in the quake hit areas and resume enterprise production. Commercial departments shall scientifically plan the construction of commercial networks and make efforts to stimulate the commodity circulation in order to help the victims to resume their normal lives and to help companies resume production. He stressed that Commercial Departments’ reconstruction work shall emphasize the scientific nature, market rules and the effective distribution of resources. He also said that MOFCOM shall continue to fully support the post-quake reconstruction in the quake hit areas.

On the same day, MOFCOM formally launched the drive of “Guidance and Coordination Group for theRestoration of Commercial Outlets and Market Supplies in the Quake-hit Areas in Chengdu. At the startup ceremony, Fu Ziying said that the coordination group shall, under the leadership of MOFCOM’s Quake Emergency Relief Group, establish a sound working mechanism and focus on restoration and reconstruction work and on-site guidance of market supply coordination; actively cooperate with the quake hit areas’ Commercial Departments and scenically plan the reconstruction and restoration of the damaged facilities and commercial outlets; strengthen the information communication and do a good job on the investigations in the front line of the quake-hit areas.
