Speech of Assistant Minister Fu Ziying at the Welcome Ceremony of the Brand Name Long March in Guangzhou
2006-08-10 13:47  MOFCOM

Distinguished Vice Governor Tong ,
Distinguished Leaders and Guests,

Good Morning!

After a 5000-km-long journey lasting for 38 days going across 6 provinces and 22 cities, the team of the Brand Promotion Tour Showcasing the Opening up Achievements of East China successfully reached its destination-Guangzhou. The enthusiasm of the Guangdong people toward the Brand Promotion Tour reaches a new climax with the arrival of the team in the warm weather in July. With the support of the provincial Party Committee and the government of Guangdong, as well as the deliberate preparation efforts of the relevant departments, the activities of the Promotion Tour in Guangzhou will soon officially start. On behalf of the Ministry of Commerce and Minister Bo Xilai himself, as well as all members of the Promotion Tour, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to the Guangdong provincial Party Committee and government for the very considerate arrangements. And I wish these activities a complete success.

During the past 27 years of reform and opening-up, Guangdong Province has seized various opportunities and created one after another miracle thanks to their pioneer spirit. A large group of companies with name brands have grown up. By 2005, 165 Guangdong-made products had won the title of Chinese Name Brands, upon which Guangdong has ranked the top among all provinces and municipalities in the country for 5 consecutive years. The Guangdong provincial government, on the basis of the scientific philosophy of development, has been making earnest efforts in restructuring the economy and transforming the growth mode. Consequently, a good macro environment is created for the proprietary brands. I am confident that the development of name brands in Guangdong will continue to prosper with the growth of industry clusters in the province, and the facilitation of Canton Fair and other trade shows and exhibitions with international profile as well as the Brand Promotion Tour activities. I sincerely hope, the Brand Promotion Long March campaign will help Guangdong expedite its efforts in making innovations so that more brand names with proprietary intellectual properties will come up making greater contribution to the national economic development.

Thank you!
