The 21st China-Luxembourg and Belgium Joint Economic and Trade Committee Held in Luxembourg

  

On November 22, China International Trade Representative and Vice Minister of Commerce Fu Ziying, Secretary General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg Stronck and the Director General of Belgian Foreign Affairs Van Calster co-chaired the 21st China-Luxembourg-Belgium Joint Economic and Trade Committee in Luxembourg. They exchanged ideas on the China-Luxembourg and China-Belgium trade and economic relations, promoting the Belt and Road construction, strengthening bilateral investment cooperation and deepening the China-Europe trade and economic cooperation. Broad consensuses have been reached.

Fu said that at present, the China-Luxembourg and China-Belgium trade and economic relations have kept sound development trend with frequent high-level visits, and the three countries have made fruitful achievements in strengthening trade and economic investment, deepening financial and capacity cooperation under the Belt and Road framework and cultivating new growth points of high and new technology cooperation. China would like to continue to consolidate and develop the practical cooperation with Luxembourg and Belgium in various areas to realize mutual benefit and win-win status. For this, Fu put forward four suggestions. Firstly, we should make full use of the platform of the Joint Committee mechanism and dig more cooperation opportunities. Secondly, we should promote the docking between the Belt and Road construction and the national economic development strategies of Luxembourg and Belgium. Thirdly, we should strengthen creative cooperation and complement each other's advantages to achieve a mutual benefit and win-win status at a higher level. Fourthly, we should continue to improve the business environment and advocate free trade to deepen the China-Europe comprehensive strategic partnership cooperation. Fu introduced the situations about the 19th CPC National Congress and China International Import Expo to Luxembourg and Belgium.

Stronck and Van Calster said that the holding of the 19th CPC National Congress means a lot not only to China but also to the whole world. Luxembourg and Belgium would like to actively participate in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping and hope to expand the three countries’ cooperation in finance, logistics, aerospace and modern service industry areas. Luxembourg and Belgium would like to actively promote the development of China-Europe trade and economic relationship.

Fu met with Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Bettel and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Schneider. They exchanged views on the 19th CPC National Congress, China International Import Expo and how to deepen the Belt and Road cooperation.
